Dutch-oven Dinner with Mom and Dad

We made another dutch-over dinner with Mom and Dad. They loved it. Mom ate a fair amount and Dad of course ate alot. Mom recalled some good stories about cleaning wild game people had shot like rabbits, phesants, and such. They seemed to be doing pretty good. They were at the casino the other day but when I went over to seem I could NOT find them. I got confused there were like 100s of guys over 70 with baseball hats on.

Arizona greeting

We're soaking up the Arizona weather at every opportunity.  Julie, Abby, and Laura came down for six days and we've been on some arduous treks through the desert and mountains.  Keeping up with Julie has been a challenge for us 50+ year olds.  The girls have been also setting a fierce pace.  Our latest hike on Easter Sunday was in Sabino Canyon part of the Coronado National Forest.  It was an 8 miler with several easy creek crossings.  AT the end of the trail was the reward -- a cascade of water falls.  Laura displayed her spiderwoman abilities and scaled the rocks barefoot.
The tie dye apparel makes it easy to spot the Lochmanns while hiking.
We've also been eating well -- there are too many awesome restaurants to choose from.
Last night we got spiffied up for an evening out... see photo.

Eggs -actly

We decorated 69 eggs by the highest count and here is the photo.

Devin kept asking me about my method for decorating eggs so I had to share with him the legend/curse of my great-great-great Uncle Adolf Luekenstoful. Do not say his name three times in unison!

Easter with K and M

We had a great time with Grandpa and Grandma on Saturday. It was fun visiting with Russ and Charmie and watching the boys make a fire with Grandpa's supervision. Dad wanted to get the gas out of course. Grandma and Grandpa seemed to like the dutch-oven dinner. Happy Easter Everyone!

Luck be the lady

Well, I took Dad down to the Casino. We left at 5 AM because I had to get back to cart Rayna to softball practice. So, Dad plays mostly black jack and its getting time to get going so he picks a $25 black jack table near the valet parking pickup. He starts out and he is losing like every hand. He got 17 maybe 4 times in a row but the dealer is getting 18, 19, 20 etc. I tell Dad we should get going. He puts all the chips he has on one hand. I was like Dad ummm, do you want to do that? He says yes so there is like $275 on one hand. So, here comes the cards, first an Ace, then a 10, BLACKJACK! and we are out of there. The guy next to Dad tells me I should listen to my father

Update from Tucson, Arizona

The time is passing too quickly during our month long stay in Tucson, Arizona.
We are happy with our decision to try out Arizona this year versus Florida.  The weather in Fort Myers, Fl is definitely much warmer -- especially the mornings and evenings.  It is not uncommon for the temps to drop as low as the 40's during the evening here in Tucson, but by 10 a.m. shorts and tee shirts are fine.

The photos are some we took on a Sunset Hike this past Tuesday -- full moon was behind the clouds, but the sunset over the mountains was unforgettable.  Also, yesterday we took a morning hike up a mountain trail near our place and came upon this lizard sunning himself on a rock.  It is an Eastern Collared lizard -- beautiful colorings.  The saguaro cactus (classic multii armed upright guys) seem to each have individual personalities.

Today, Julie, Abby and Laura are coming to visit for six days.  Looking forward to seeing them and exploring more.
